2005 dodge ram shifter cable

2005 dodge ram shift cable broke. I removed cable and I am just about ready to install new cable. The problem is the cable broke while I was in 1st gear (automatic trans) and now I cannot get it into park. I tried shifting it manually from the shifter plate but it will not move.
